Is That All You Got?

Prayer.  This one simple word can change one complicated world.  It is you communicating with God.  Try to the grasp the bigness of that for just a moment.  Wrap your thoughts around the fact that when you pray, you are talking to the Almighty Creator who made the very ground your feet are placed on.  The One who is the reason why you’re here.  The One who gives meaning and purpose to the life it’s easy to wonder what’s the meaning of.

With communication with a God who is powerful enough for anything, what will you ask of Him?

I believe it’s a sad thing when we let our prayers fizzle down to these minimal requests.  I’m not saying to not pray for the small things.  I’m talking about how when we’re sick, for example, we often ask for God to “help” us feel better when, in fact, He is the Healer and can completely rid us of our illness.  If your faith in God were to be measured by what you asked Him to do for you, how are you doing?

Is that all you got?  Pray as big as God is.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Crowder

Saw the David Crowder*Band in Columbia this past Thursday night.  Epic, as always.

Thoughts:

  • Amazing show.
  • Innovative.
  • Rescue is coming.
  • Sixth or seventh time seeing them live.
  • Still haven’t disappointed or gotten old.
  • Jesus loves us.
  • A lot more focus on the One who is to come in worship music these days.
  • Ready to do it again.

Hi

So I haven’t been stopping in as much as I would like to write a thing or two about a thing or two.  It’s funny: between busyness and forgetfulness, I am bound to never blog again.  However, God’s timing is great.  Here I am, waiting for my camera to charge in preparation to see this guy . . .

David Crowder

. . . in Columbia tonight, and it gives me time to say “hi” to all of you.

As far as busyness is concerned, this is simultaneously the most wonderful and most busy time of year.  It can really blow by or be full of getting caught up in the wrong things.  Engagements, events and errands are often the three e’s that define the holiday season best.  A full social calendar with programs and to-do’s mixed in can leave someone ready for it to be over.  I haven’t found the recipe to simplify  the months of November and December yet, but I do hope to find myself enjoying the true moments of this time as they occur.  Maybe that will even be before Christmas Day, when I usually can finally breathe and be thankful that it’s all over.

Forgetfulness is another thing that’s kept me away from the keyboard.  This past Sunday, I had a topic in mind to write about, but it escaped by the time I logged in to put my thoughts into words.  It really is a shame when this happens.   Makes me think of all the great songs we’ll never hear, or the new ways to sell pre-chopped lettuce that won’t hit the market.  I’m pretty sure my mind has maxed out on its absences.

Hopefully I’ll have thoughts on the Crowder show up in the next couple of days, and also a follow-up to this.  I’m also working on a series idea that I hope to unbox one of these days.  Oh, and maybe even a new My Journey addition.  Who knows?  Now, if I can only remember what it was I was charging . . .

We’re All in This Together

What happened in theaters across the US and Canada last night was nothing short of God at work.  What is happening to me today is a continuation of that.  If you saw I Heart Revolution: We’re All in This Together last night, you may be feeling the same way.  I can’t shake these two and a half hours from me, nor do I want to.  What I saw keeps coming to mind with a world of thoughts rushing in with it.  What I saw was what God sees every day.

I think of the times I’ve prayed for God to give me His eyes and the many times I’ve sung to Him, “break my heart for what breaks yours.”  This film is having a part in doing both of these things.

My mind can’t process the words to a generate description for it at the moment.

See the link above, and when the DVD comes out, watch for yourself.

Update: See where to go from here at http://www.i-heart.org.
