What a Night!

Well, the wrestling show is behind me.  Thursday night, I made a return to commentary after nearly three years of not being behind the table, and it felt great.  Personally, one of the moments I enjoyed the most was walking out and shaking hands with the front row.  I initiated handshakes with the first couple of people, and then saw hand after hand extended as I walked by.  It really felt great for a bunch of people who were there to see the boys in the ring do what they do best show me that kind of love.

I also felt needed.  Upon opening the show with my commentating partner, I felt like he and I really got the crowd in to it.  Our job was not to take up a lot of time talking.  Again, it was a wrestling show and not a forum.  Live commentary is great.  It’s one thing I that I feel wrestling events lack when it isn’t there.  It combines the excitement of a live event with an element that keeps you on the edge of your seat when you’re watching at home.

The show went well, and I enjoyed the opportunities to call a Ricky Morton/Bobby Eaton match again, as well as commentate for Buff Bagwell for the first time.

Buff was a class act, as were Ricky and Bobby (and yes, they are aware of the Talladega Nights connection, which totally rocks).

It was also great catching up with many of the guys I’ve worked with in the past.  This was our third show with Ricky Morton.  Everyone else you see pictured above, I’ve seen get into the wrestling industry over the past eight to ten years.  Some of these people are still going around and doing what they love.  Some have the occasional show.  No matter what, wrestling is one thing that never leaves you.

I’m not sure when the next show will be, but I cherish the time spent at this one.  It was a great night full of new memories.

So… what have you been up to this week?
