I can’t wait for Thursday night. And no, this week, it’s not because that’s Office night. This Thursday is my first time commentating pro wrestling in 33 months. Additionally, it is a time to reunite with a group of extraordinary people and put on the best show possible. It is also set to be one of the biggest evenings of commentary I’ve ever had.
This Thursday night, February 19th at 8:00 PM at Cross Creek High School in Augusta, GA, scheduled to appear are Rock N’ Roll Express member Ricky Morton and his opponent, Midnight Express member “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton. For those who don’t know, these two have wrestled in just about every company for years now. Much in the way Batman just couldn’t get rid of a bomb in the 1966 feature film, these two can’t seem to escape their grudge. In fact, they wrestled at the last show I commentated, and that just led to everybody wanting more. Almost three years later, people in Augusta G-A are going to get their wish!
One person who was also in Augusta awhile back is making his return to the area this Thursday night as well. He made a name for himself in WCW in the 90s, came to WWE when they acquired the company in 2001 and hasn’t stopped making wrestling appearances since. Pretty good for a competitor who at one time was slated to never wrestle again due to a neck injury from a move that went awry in the ring. I’m talking about Buff Bagwell.
Not only am I looking forward to the opportunity to commentate the match of someone I grew up watching on TV, but I also couldn’t be happier for Bagwell’s opponent, Chris King. I’ve known Chris for a long time, going back to his training days and seeing him get to where he is today. He most recently wrestled in Chicago and also won a major championship in Georgia. King has a lot of heart for wrestling, and the drive to back it up. I can’t wait until these two meet in the ring Thursday night.
Finally, I would be remiss if I failed to mention one of the best parts of a night like this… the Waffle House that will very well await us after the show. Oh, one can only hope!
Meet Brent Douglas. No, seriously. I want you to. Brent is a graphic designer who has done a lot of excellent work for TrueNorth Church and their college ministry, Merge, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Husqvarna and several projects for bands, ministries and miscellaneous projects. He packs an impressive portfolio which you can see on his website.
I’ve known Brent for several years, and can vouch for his reliability and quality work. Be sure to email him or give him a call the next time you need something done.
While you're here, read around a little. I love getting to share my thoughts with you, and welcome you to do the same. Communication is where it's at! Enjoy.
