A mere glance at a website like Facebook will tell you that relationships in our lives are something of much worth and of great value to us. We are excited to make new friends and develop a romantic connection. Life is better when we do things together; be it work, eating, entertainment, family time, etc. Relationships exist not solely by knowing people, but by actively pursuing them. In other words, relationships take action.
Is it any wonder then that God, who embedded us with this drive for relationships, wants to have one with us? A lot of times we find ourselves wondering what to do with the Almighty Creator. Here is this big God who can move us around like a grasshopper, and yet He wants to be a part of our lives and paid the highest of costs to do so.
When you look at the two greatest commandments Christ gave us, you see they are to love God with everything and to love each other as we love ourselves. What you might miss is what links them together. After Jesus tells us the first commandment, He says the second one is like it.
So when it comes to having a loving relationship with God, let’s take a look at how we have a loving relationships with friends, family, significant others, co-workers, bosses, enemies, complete strangers, etc. You may find there is work to be done with both of these commandments. That’s where action comes in.
In order to be in a relationship with God, we must seek Him, spend time with Him, consult and confide in Him. And in order for this relationship to be its proper placement, we must make Him the center of our lives, invite Him to be a part of everything we do, and love His people. The ball is in our court.

What a Night!
February 20, 2009 2 Comments
Well, the wrestling show is behind me. Thursday night, I made a return to commentary after nearly three years of not being behind the table, and it felt great. Personally, one of the moments I enjoyed the most was walking out and shaking hands with the front row. I initiated handshakes with the first couple of people, and then saw hand after hand extended as I walked by. It really felt great for a bunch of people who were there to see the boys in the ring do what they do best show me that kind of love.
I also felt needed. Upon opening the show with my commentating partner, I felt like he and I really got the crowd in to it. Our job was not to take up a lot of time talking. Again, it was a wrestling show and not a forum. Live commentary is great. It’s one thing I that I feel wrestling events lack when it isn’t there. It combines the excitement of a live event with an element that keeps you on the edge of your seat when you’re watching at home.
The show went well, and I enjoyed the opportunities to call a Ricky Morton/Bobby Eaton match again, as well as commentate for Buff Bagwell for the first time.
Buff was a class act, as were Ricky and Bobby (and yes, they are aware of the Talladega Nights connection, which totally rocks).
It was also great catching up with many of the guys I’ve worked with in the past. This was our third show with Ricky Morton. Everyone else you see pictured above, I’ve seen get into the wrestling industry over the past eight to ten years. Some of these people are still going around and doing what they love. Some have the occasional show. No matter what, wrestling is one thing that never leaves you.
I’m not sure when the next show will be, but I cherish the time spent at this one. It was a great night full of new memories.
So… what have you been up to this week?
