New Thoughts

I don’t really have a lot on my mind at the moment to display on your screen… and I’m okay with that.

What a great opportunity to relax and take a weekend to grab some new thoughts, and more importantly just enjoy the blessings God has given me.

That’s it for me today.

Have a great weekend, and let the people in your life know how much you love them!

What Happened to Ed on Scrubs?

If you watched the first handful of episodes of Scrubs on ABC this season, chances are, like me, you laughed hysterically at one of the new interns, Ed.

He brought us hit one-liners like “steak night,” “recognize,” and “zwaa!”

I remarked to some of his quickness on Twitter, which was displayed on the side of this blog.  Search engines grabbed on to this, and when people were wondering where they could get their Ed fix, they came across my blog.  Just about every day, I have logged on and saw where people came here because of those search results.

The big question as of late has been, “What happened to Ed on Scrubs?”

I’m going to tackle two basic needs right now: 1) Answering this question; 2) Showing you where you can get your Ed on.

See Ed’s rundown of what happened to him on Scrubs at his official blog here.

And thanks for stopping by!  Now, if you’ll excuse me, “I’m going out to get some PIZZA!”

The Exit Epidemic

I may be the only one to notice this.  What I see may not reflect the facts.  However, it can still get to me.  By the way, this is something I can be guilty of.

It strikes me as odd that I can attend a worship service and walk out of it like I’ve spent the morning at Wal-Mart or doing something else.  It’s as if what’s happened in the past [insert time the service you attended lasted] didn’t occur.

My thoughts shift to what I’m doing next; be it going to lunch, reporting back to my volunteer station, catching up with people in the lobby, etc.  This might start as soon as the preacher’s closing thoughts or during the last song.

I’m sorry.  Did we not just gather corporately to meet with God?

World Wrestling Entertainment is coming to town in a little over a week.  Based on past experiences, I’m pretty sure I will get in to the event, take everything in and be talking about it for the rest of the night.  I’ll be discussing what I liked and didn’t like, laugh some parts of the show off, and converse about what I saw might mean for future broadcasts and pay-per-views.

All of that devotion and thought will go in to a profession that exists for the purpose of entertainment.  Where is that in my Sunday morning experiences?  Why is it that every few months there is a service where “God shows up” and I’m in awe of it?  He’s there every week, and in our lives every day.  Why doesn’t this matter more to me when we gather in His presence?

This isn’t a post about “what’s wrong with the Church in America today;” I would just like to see our time together on Sunday mornings be expressed outwardly more than it is.  These services are blessings and privileges, and I think they deserve our all after we exit our sanctuaries.

Six Down

Though I was doing a weekly radio segment from 2001-2002 for them on a voluntary basis, the company I work for officially hired me in February 2003.  That means I’ve been employed by them for six years now.  At the rate people switch jobs, and especially in this day and time, that is something to appreciate.  Thank you for the years!

Relationships Take Action

A mere glance at a website like Facebook will tell you that relationships in our lives are something of much worth and of great value to us.  We are excited to make new friends and develop a romantic connection.  Life is better when we do things together; be it work, eating, entertainment, family time, etc.  Relationships exist not solely by knowing people, but by actively pursuing them.  In other words, relationships take action.

Is it any wonder then that God, who embedded us with this drive for relationships, wants to have one with us?  A lot of times we find ourselves wondering what to do with the Almighty Creator.  Here is this big God who can move us around like a grasshopper, and yet He wants to be a part of our lives and paid the highest of costs to do so.

When you look at the two greatest commandments Christ gave us, you see they are to love God with everything and to love each other as we love ourselves.  What you might miss is what links them together.  After Jesus tells us the first commandment, He says the second one is like it.

So when it comes to having a loving relationship with God, let’s take a look at how we have a loving relationships with friends, family, significant others, co-workers, bosses, enemies, complete strangers, etc.  You may find there is work to be done with both of these commandments.  That’s where action comes in.

In order to be in a relationship with God, we must seek Him, spend time with Him, consult and confide in Him.  And in order for this relationship to be its proper placement, we must make Him the center of our lives, invite Him to be a part of everything we do, and love His people.  The ball is in our court.

Sold

truckIt was on the market for five months, and last Friday, it finally found a new home.  It was my first vehicle; the only wheels I owned for six years.  Now, it’s no longer mine.  Shortly after taking it for one more wash, someone came to the house and took it off my hands…

The 1987 Dodge Ram has been sold.

Yesterday, I made it official by turning in the tag and notice.  Like I said in my last post, I’ve gotten a lot of calls for it since then.  This is due to the listing not expring until this week.  It’s still hard to believe it’s not sitting out front being kept cool (not by the AC, but by the crape myrtle pictured above).  Every time I tell an inquirer I sold it, it’s like I’m reminding myself of that.  Poetic, I know.

From what I understand, it’s going to be a lawn care truck.  Good for it.  You know, we’ve had some good times and bad times together, but they’re all memories.  This one instance of a door not unlocking comes to mind, but the CD player was always a champ.

Now I can drive away in my car and not feel like the truck is asking, What about me?  Okay.  That never happened, but I can drive away in my car and not worry about getting hit by an oncoming vehicle I can’t see over the truck.  Gotta love that.

In all seriousness, this truck accomplished what it was meant to.  It got me through school with a vehicle.  It also came in handy in helping out friends and family.  I’m thankful it was provided for me, and appreciate my father’s assistance over the years, as well as my mother’s help with taxes and insurance.

Best wishes, my first truck.  Just like Lil’ Brudder, I know you can make it on your own.

Regrouping

Not much is going on or flowing through the ol’ noggin today.  I’ve just been regrouping.  One cool thing to report though is this morning, I turned in the tag to the DMV of the truck I sold last Friday!  I’ve been trying to find a buyer for my old Dodge Ram for the past five months, so it’s been great having that come to a close.

Funny thing is I’ve gotten more frequent calls about the truck since selling it than I did before.   Ah well.

What a Night!

Well, the wrestling show is behind me.  Thursday night, I made a return to commentary after nearly three years of not being behind the table, and it felt great.  Personally, one of the moments I enjoyed the most was walking out and shaking hands with the front row.  I initiated handshakes with the first couple of people, and then saw hand after hand extended as I walked by.  It really felt great for a bunch of people who were there to see the boys in the ring do what they do best show me that kind of love.

I also felt needed.  Upon opening the show with my commentating partner, I felt like he and I really got the crowd in to it.  Our job was not to take up a lot of time talking.  Again, it was a wrestling show and not a forum.  Live commentary is great.  It’s one thing I that I feel wrestling events lack when it isn’t there.  It combines the excitement of a live event with an element that keeps you on the edge of your seat when you’re watching at home.

The show went well, and I enjoyed the opportunities to call a Ricky Morton/Bobby Eaton match again, as well as commentate for Buff Bagwell for the first time.

Buff was a class act, as were Ricky and Bobby (and yes, they are aware of the Talladega Nights connection, which totally rocks).

It was also great catching up with many of the guys I’ve worked with in the past.  This was our third show with Ricky Morton.  Everyone else you see pictured above, I’ve seen get into the wrestling industry over the past eight to ten years.  Some of these people are still going around and doing what they love.  Some have the occasional show.  No matter what, wrestling is one thing that never leaves you.

I’m not sure when the next show will be, but I cherish the time spent at this one.  It was a great night full of new memories.

So… what have you been up to this week?

Tonight

Enough said.

Tomorrow Night’s the Night

I’ve made my first attempt at an audio blog and used it to tell you about tomorrow night’s show and my return to commentating.  If you have a couple of minutes you’re not too concerned about getting back, check it out.
